JOB DUTIES

Scope of the Job

Provides application support and maintenance for the system applications.  Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for any application inquires. Performs modifications and/or enhancements to systems including changes to profiles, master files, reports, systems design, and documentation requirements.

Essential Functions

The essential functions are the primary dimensions for performance review.

1.

Responds to user problems and questions regarding functionality, operations, input/output, and general operating procedures for system applications.

2.

Responds to technical, network and equipments issues from vendors and end users.

3.

Coordinates implementation and connectivity between multiple vendors and end users.

4.

Creates, maintains and distributes applicable lists and documents according to specific applications.

5.

Provides/recommends innovative ideas, processes and/or procedures for enhancements, additions and/or modifications to improve the existing systems.

6.

Produces and maintains a variety of reports and/or queries as required and/or requested.

7.

Produce and maintain management reports for Administration, Providers, Management and end users.

8.

Analyzes business and regulatory requirements and applies these requirements to applications when appropriate.

9.

Reports system issues to vendors through appropriate vendor solution. Monitor and test resolution of those issues sent to vendors.

10.

Analyzes and test areas of expertise during implementation of upgrades during upgrade process.

 

11.

Provides one-on-one end-user training for provider community.

 

12.

Assists co-workers in functional areas of expertise.

 

13.

Assists operations to notify clinics of system downtime.

 

14.

Assists Application Trainers with training development and classes as needed.

 

15.

Performs other duties/projects as assigned.

Secondary Functions

ALLSCRIPTS

Builds and maintains Allscripts modules including menu and screen development.

Builds and maintains Allscripts templates and user lists.

Creates and maintains security and user ids on Allscripts system.

Notifies transcription company of updates, adds and deletes for access.

Builds and maintains Allscripts dictionaries.

Tests all equipment and network connectivity on site before implementation at that site.

On call rotation schedule 24x7.

Temperament

Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations.  Must be capable of dealing with periodic cyclical workload pressures and levels of responsibility.  Must be able to make generalizations, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria.  Must have the adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.  Requires the ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.

 

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

 

Skills

 

Superior customer service skills.

Knowledge of medical procedure coding and diagnosis coding (CPT-4, ICD-9).

Ability to test and evaluate computer software functions.

Must be knowledgeable in maintenance and troubleshooting procedures using advanced troubleshooting skills.

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Quick learner / good at researching, reading, digging for answers.

Excellent communication skills at technical and non-technical levels.

Excellent time management and multitasking skills.

Experience

 

Minimum of four - six years appropriate experience.

Experience with computerized physician AR, scheduling or other related medical billing/management systems/or electronic health record.

Knowledge of clinical and ancillary departmental operational processes required.

Substantial knowledge of medical billing required.

Knowledge of billing rules and operational issues.

Extensive experience with Microsoft office products.

Experience PC client software and hardware at a technical level.

 

 

Education and Certifications

 

High School Graduate or GED equivalent required.

College course work and/or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Some positions Certified Physician Coder (CPC) Certification required within 6 months of hire.
