POSITION:              Technical Specialist



This position provides IT administrative support in the delivery of Health & Welfare Fund programs and services. Duties include, but are not limited to: responsible for analyzing and designing solutions to networking issues;documentation of current and future Fund Office computer procedures; provide training to staff on existing and future software; work with the Fund Office’s benefits administration software vendor to maintain and improve efficiency and functionality of that system; work with website vendor to improve and maintain the Funds website; work with email marketing and management systems to create an effective communication tool with Fund participants; assist in the setup of and ongoing maintenance of a scanning solution for the funds’ files; provide basic IT support for the Funds’ computer system, as well as troubleshooting, diagnosing and solving issues with both hardware and software, and; other related functions as assigned by the Fund Administrator.


Education:  Bachelor’s Degree is required, with a technical certificate and/or extensive coursework relating to computers or engineering.

Experience:  2 – 5 years, working with software/hardware and a specific knowledge of computer networks, including security functions and design, network and software protocols, as well as configuring, diagnosing and testing all networking equipment.

Knowledge of general office practices, procedures and equipment; Skills in: Problem Solving, Presenting Technical Information, Process Improvement, Software Maintenance, Software Testing, Vendor Relationships

Ability to: maintain confidentiality and sensitivity in handling participant issues; be detail oriented and work with frequent interruptions; organize and prioritize work assignments and meet deadlines; work independently and collaboratively in a team environment; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff; provide excellent customer service and use proactive solutions to situations.
