Mail Services Clerk

MAIL SERVICE CLERK

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON AREA

JOB SUMMARY

Sorts and delivers incoming mail and parcels, prepares and posts outgoing mail ensuring compliance with all postal and export regulations. Interfaces with all internal and external customers and vendors to ensure satisfaction, reliability and compliance with all government and company regulations and policies.

  1. Sorts and delivers incoming mail and parcels.
  2. Prepares and posts outgoing mail ensuring compliance with all postal and export regulations.
  3. Interfaces with all internal and external customers and vendors to ensure satisfaction, reliability, and compliance with all government and company regulations and policies.
  4. Operates office equipment to solve customer problems and complaints.
  5. Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to client representatives, company management, life/safety personnel or public safety authorities as appropriate for the circumstances and/or as required by the site.
  6. Learn and perform multiple mail runs and other mail services related duties.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY

Background Prerequisites

·         Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral selection survey, in addition to any mandatory licensing requirements.

·         Must be a U.S. citizen.

·         Must have or be able to obtain a current, valid sate driver’s license.

·         Must have or have the ability to obtain a Security Clearance.

Education/Experience

·         High School Diploma or G.E.D

·         1 to 2 years experience in the field and well-developed skills appropriate to the assignment.

Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing)

·         Ability to see, hear, speak, and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients.

·         Ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports.

·         Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.

·         Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances.

·         Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization.

·         Good organizational skills.

·         Ability to provide high quality customer service.

·         Possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures.

·         Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.

·         Possess basic skills in keyboarding; computer usage, specifically Microsoft Office and other windows based products, and operating controls.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical/Mental Demands)

With or without reasonable accommodation, requires the physical and mental capacity to perform effectively all essential functions.  In addition to other demands, the demands of the job include:

·         Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.

·         May be required to work overtime without advance notice.

·         Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for up to 8 hours per day and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.

·         Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.

·         Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds.

·         Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

·         May be required to use vehicle in the performance of duties.  Vehicles are to include but not limited to:  cars, trucks, electric carts and bicycles.

·         On occasion may be required to perform stressful physical activity. 

·         May be exposed to or required to handle sensitive and confidential information.
