Physician III - The Facility Medical Director is responsible for effective leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality medical services to individuals with intellectual disabilities served by DADS State Supported Living Centers. Work is both administrative and clinical and involves directing and monitoring medical services, participating in treatment team process, and supervising staff Physicians, Family Nurse Practitioners, and consulting Psychiatrist. The Medical Director may serve as a primary care physician for a smaller caseload and will be responsible for sharing on-call duty with other staff physicians and FNPs. Provides and coordinates First Aid services to employees resulting from on the job injury/illness. The Medical Director works under the general supervision of the Director with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The Medical Director may delegate to persons under his/her supervision portions of these duties and sufficient authority for their accomplishment, but may not relinquish overall responsibility for the medical care of the consumers.

Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. Provide leadership and management to Medical Services Division staff and other employees and contractors of the Center. 25% Formulate, implement, and monitor plans in order to ensure optimum performance of the Division. 15% Coordinates with specialty clinics, participates and chairs various committees. 15% Provide medical services and care to assigned caseload following current accepted medical practices. 10% Manage and monitor division fiscal, equipment, building, and staff resources. 10% Promote safety and well being of staff and consumers at the Center. 10% Participate in interdisciplinary planning conferences and personal support team meetings for individuals that reside at the State Center and provides medical information to parents and family members as appropriate. 10% Plans, assigns and supervises the work of others. 5%
