Primary Responsibilities:
Process improvement and optimization of chemical processes related to polysilicon manufacture.
Position Description:
· Provide technical insights into the functioning of the various processes related to polysilicon manufacture.
· Monitor process performance and area wide variable margin contribution.
· Indentify and analyze deviations from intended process operation ranges, root cause analysis and determine likely reasons for deviation and what impact the deviations have on variable margin contribution.
· Solution implementation and documentation of productivity improvements optimize and improve unit start-ups and drive advanced process control systems usage such as multi-variable predictive control (MVPC/MPC) and Real Time Optimization (RTO).
· Responsible for driving productivity and plant expansions using advance process simulation (Aspen/Hysys), develop phenomenological and computational fluid dynamics models of multiphase reactors and reconciliation of those tolls with actual plant performance, and implementation of new cutting edge process improvements involving advanced process optimization and robust design using Six Sigma tools.
· Work closely with local engineering, operations, and management staff to successfully drive productivity efforts; and interacting daily with contractors, operations technicians, managers and other exempt professionals to improve plant operations and drive high capital efficiency across polysilicon manufacturing facilities.
· Translation of basic R&D and process technology into Company’s polysilicon manufacturing facilities.
· Monitor unit performance/yield and troubleshooting operational issues.
· Obtain working knowledge of major unit work processes.
· Provide proactive technical services to the unit customers (operations, maintenance, supervisors).
· Provide troubleshooting services and assistance during turnarounds and start-up projects.
· Develop monitoring and optimization strategies.
· Identify improvement opportunities within the assigned unit.
· Conduct process designs for unit modifications.
Basic Requirements:
· PhD in Chemical Engineering
· MS in Chemical Engineering with at least 4 years of experience in a technical service / process development organization
· Strong problem-solving skills, comfortable in dealing with uncertainty.
· In-depth knowledge of multiphase chemical reaction engineering and separations.
· Ability to present mathematics in layman’s language.
· Strong team-work skills.
· 7+ years demonstrated industrial experience in a manufacturing environment.
