CITY OF WHEELING
The City of Wheeling is seeking a Finance Director. This unclassified position is appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of Council and the City Manager.
The Finance Director provides executive leadership and supervision to a coordinated program of fiscal management including a managed budget that allows the administration to carry out the City Council's policies. Responsible for the City's budget in accordance with State Tax Department rules and regulations; maintains a general accounting system for the City and each of its offices, departments and agencies; analyzes the disbursement activities to provide adequate cash controls for all funds; manages City financial assets; collect all taxes, special assessments license fees and other revenues for which the City is responsible to collect; prepares and submits quarterly, annual, special, and compliance reports to various federal, state and local regulatory and bond agencies as well as administration and City Council; provides assistance for completion of the annual audit; plans and directs departmental personnel activities including assignments, scheduling, supervision, and monitoring.
Applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with at least 5 years experience in a progressively responsible position. An equivalent combination of experience and training may be substituted.
A Master's degree and CPA preferred.
The selected individual must meet residency requirement within 6 months of hire date.
